Well, the day finally arrived, my birthday and my first 5k race - the Race4Kids at Ponte Vedra Beach. As you can tell, the conditions before the race looked a bit ominous... The family was kind enough to get up at 5:30 and stand in the rain to cheer me on...
The race was pretty small, but not a bad turn out for such nasty weather... The Ponte Vedra High School cheerleaders were lending their support too....
My trainer from the Y showed up to 'pace' me.. which was a huge help..
The important thing is to try to finish with a smile..
