Pushing the envelope

Yesterday Emory and I got up early and met some of his Galloway Group training partners for a 6.6 mile walk/run. I had never ran or walked that far before all at one time, so this was an exciting challenge for me. I was pleased with how well it worked out. I fell behind a few times but always caught up, and I finished at the same time as the rest of the group so I consider it a success! We started at the Y in Riverside and went past the Landing and over the Main Street bridge, down the Riverwalk, thu San Marco and over the Acosta Bridge and back to the Y. It was a beautiful morning and just reminded me of what a really beautiful city we live in. I can't wait to do it again. Next weekend I am doing the 5K (3.1 mile) part of the River Run and Em is doing the full 15K. I am very proud of him!

5 Miles with Emory and Friends

Tonight I went down to the Riverwalk with Emory and a couple of his running friends. We started at the school board building and ran 5.3 miles total. We went over the Main Street and Acosta bridges and past the Landing and along the Riverwalk. It was a beautiful night along the river and past all the office buildings. I have a thing for office buildings at night. :-) I had a great time and I did just fine. I walked a good pace most of the way and ran some. I would fall behind the group when they ran but then caught up again, and we all finished together. I had a great time and definitely look forward to doing it again!!

My first 5 mile run/walk :-)

Something new

Tonight I've been invited to walk/run with Emory and his running group, down town over the bridges for 5 miles. This will be a stretch for me as I am used to only doing 3 miles a few times a week. Hopefully I will do ok and get used to doing more distance in the future... we shall see..

I watched a marathon today

Emory achieved a great milestone today. He finished the 1/2 marathon portion of the 26.2 with Donna, Breast Cancer Marathon. I volunteered for a water station, so I got to see him come by and even give him a drink. I also got to see the marathon runners as we were manning the water station at the 20 mile mark. I even gave Donna some water. It was a fun day and I am glad I volunteered. Went for a walk/jog tonight becuase I felt so guilty for eating a bunch of junk today. I did not feel like getting out there at all and ended up with my fastest mile pace yet. :)
